Upgrades MP4-24 stemmen McLaren-duo tevreden

Het team van McLaren heeft snel ingespeeld op het legaal verklaren van de hogere diffusers van Brawn GP, Williams en Toyota. Woensdag was de uitspraak, vandaag verscheen de Britse renstal al met een interim-diffuser ten tonele. De combinatie met een stel andere upgrades, waaronder een nieuwe voorvleugel, stemde de rijders in ieder geval positief.

Heikki Kovalainen was kort maar duidelijk. Ik ben zeer onder de indruk van de updates die de prestaties van de auto duidelijk verbeteren. Ze behoeven nog wel wat werk om de beste balans te vinden, maar de auto voelde meteen meer stabiel.

Lewis Hamilton sprak uitgebreider na de vrijdag. De auto voelde gelijk beter. De stabiliteit is toegenomen, evenals de downforce aan de voorkant. We hebben absoluut een stap voorwaarts gezet voor deze race. De wagen voelt sterker door de bochten en ik denk dat we een positieve basis voor de rest van het weekend hebben.

Mijn eerste run op de zachte banden voelde vrij constant aan. De drop-off was onder controle te houden. Dit was een goede dag, al hebben we nog wel wat werk te verzetten om de balans van de MP4-24 op hoge en medium snelheid te verbeteren.
