Nieuwe diffuser Red Bull Racing inzetbaar vanaf Monaco

Het team van Red Bull Racing moet het ook de komende twee wedstrijden nog doen zonder een dubbele diffuser. Technisch directeur Adrian Newey bleef weg bij de Grand Prix van China om in de fabriek aan een nieuwe vloer voor de RB5 te werken. De introductie daarvan laat minstens nog twee Grands Prix op zich wachten.

Newey: De speculaties dat het veranderen van dit onderdeel voor de RB5 geen makkelijke taak is zijn juist. En terwijl we hieraan werken moeten we ook de algehele ontwikkeling voortzetten. De unieke eigenschap van de Red Bull-autos is de achterwielophanging, die het goed doet zonder een dubbele diffuser. Moeilijker wordt het om de ophanging samen met de diffuser te laten werken. Het zal op zijn minst tot Monaco duren voordat we een nieuwe diffuser hebben.

Het behelst veel arbeid. De uitdaging is nu om de nieuwe diffuser in het ontwerp van de RB5 te integreren. Dat gaat ons wat lange dagen bezorgen. Dat is ook de Formule 1, je kan niet bij de pakken neer gaan zitten, je moet er zelf mee aan de slag. De dubbele diffuser levert zonder twijfel extra snelheid. Hoe veel ligt aan de interpretatie en hoe goed de diffuser past bij de rest van de auto. Het is het voor iedereen waard om zon diffuser te ontwikkelen en onze uitdaging is om er één te creëren die past bij onze auto.

Ja wat is die jongen goed zeg. Hoop dat Newey een goede auto bouwt de komende jaren en dat Vettel mooi bij dit vrolijke team blijft en niet naar dat saaie McLaren gaat.
