Hamilton heeft gedachten over afscheid verbannen

Lewis Hamilton is niet van plan om McLaren of de Formule 1 te verlaten. Plannen om zijn werkgever in te ruilen voor een andere heeft de regerend wereldkampioen sowieso nooit gehad. Stoppen met de Formule 1 heeft wel door zijn hoofd gespookt, zo liet hij aan BBC Sport weten.

Mijn toewijding mag niet in twijfel getrokken worden, zei Hamilton. Ik ben toegewijd aan de sport en zeer toegewijd aan dit team. Ik hou van dit team. Op mijn tiende zei ik al dat ik voor deze renstal wilde racen en tegenwoordig doe ik dat. We zijn samen kampioen geworden, we misten samen de titel op een haar na en we zullen nog veel meer meemaken in de jaren dat we nog samenwerken. Samen zullen we winnen en verliezen. Het beste is dat het aanvoelt als een familie, we zijn een hecht team. Ik ben blij waar ik zit, ik heb geen reden om weg te willen.

Toch ontstonden daar eerder twijfels over, omdat hij geen duidelijk antwoord gaf op de vraag of hij zijn vijfjarige contract uit zou dienen. Nu geeft Hamilton duidelijkheid: Ik was toen niet zeker of ik nog wel vijf jaar in de Formule 1 wilde doorgaan. Er speelde destijds veel. Wil ik constant in de spotlights staan en niet naar de bioscoop kunnen gaan zonder dat men fotos van mij neemt? Maar die twijfels liggen achter me. Als ik in deze auto wil racen, moet ik ook wel.

  Wat je dsaar nu zegt is flauwekul voor 2007 was hij er ook niet en toen was er nog steeds de F1, je moet nu niet alles richting Hamilton het is maar een jochie van 22 die in een auto zit en die alle aandacht naar zich toe trekt, samen met pappie..
  
  Als het allemaal tegen zit gaat hij zeggen, ik zit te denken om te stoppen en volgens mij heeft hij dit al 3 keer gezegd..
