Toyota: "Teams vooral op zoek naar juiste manier van bestuur"

Toyota-directeur John Howett stelt dat alle teams de intentie hebben om in de Formule 1 te blijven, ook de renstallen die al dreigden op te stappen bij de invoering van een optioneel budgetlimiet. De teams zijn eigenlijk alleen uit op een betere manier van bestuur voor de sport. De teleurstelling over een eventuele tweedeling in de reglementen en de manier waarop de internationale autosportbond FIA dat er doorheen drukte is groot.

Howett grijpt terug naar de verklaring van Ferrari van gisteren. Ik denk dat de bezwaren van de teams daarin goed samengevat worden. De rode draad die in alle verklaringen van de teams terugkomt is de wens om een correcte manier van bestuur te bewerkstelligen. Het is duidelijk dat iedereen in de Formule 1 wil blijven meedoen mits stabiliteit voor de toekomst is verzekerd. Om dat te doen is een bestuurproces nodig waarbij iedereen onder dezelfde regels blijft acteren, er enige vorm van stabiliteit in de reglementen is en een platform wordt gecreëerd waarin de kosten verantwoord worden gereduceerd zonder de DNA van de sport te verwoesten.
