Formule 3-team Litespeed wil met Gascoyne naar Formule 1

De kans bestaat dat Mike Gascoyne volgend jaar weer zijn opwachting maakt in de Formule 1. Na dienstverbanden bij onder andere Force India, Toyota, Renault en Jordan heeft de Engelsman het gevoel nog niet klaar te zijn in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Hij heeft de handen ineen geslagen met Formule 3-team Litespeed, dat zich in gaat schrijven voor toetreding tot de Formule 1.

Litespeed-teambaas Nino Judge: We weten niet of de regels voor het budgetlimiet blijven gelden en we weten ook niet of ze onze inschrijving zullen accepteren. Het budgetplafond gaat misschien wel helemaal verloren. Het punt is dat de tijd om het project voor 2010 op te starten steeds korter wordt en we moeten wat risicos nemen om genoeg tijd voor voorbereiding over te houden.

Dit is potentieel het beste tijdstip om de stap naar de Formule 1 te maken. De FIA is niet alleen zo brutaal geweest om een budgetlimiet in te voeren, maar heeft ook de vooruitzichten voor de lange termijn uitgestippeld. Er is ruimte en noodzaak voor onafhankelijke Formule 1-teams en de technische vrijheden betekenen dat je binnen de financiële parameters competitief kan zijn.

In tijden van crisis hopen we maar dat het geluk voor de dapperen is weggelegd. Ondanks de mogelijke tegenstand, die ook realiteit is geworden, heeft de FIA haar nek uitgestoken met deze vooruitstrevende maatregelen. We vertrouwen erop dat de FIA en FOTA komen tot een mooi compromis, goed voor de Formule 1 en met de mogelijkheid op nieuwe teams zoals het onze. Als innovatief, kosteneffectief en op engineering gebaseerde organisatie past het budgetlimiet bij de waarden van Litespeed GP en daarom is dit de juiste tijd voor ons om deze stap te nemen.

Weet je wat ik bij al Nieuwe teams mis is hoe ze over de dubbele regeling denken dat ze voor het budgetplafond zijn is wel duidelijk omdat ze anders niet mee kunnen doen
