Ook Team USF1 schrijft zich formeel in

De inschrijvingsperiode is nog geen dag open, maar de eerste twee partijen hebben zich al bij de internationale autosportbond FIA aangemeld. Van Spaans Formule 3-team Campos Racing was het al duidelijk, maar ook Team USF1 heeft het papierwerk ingeleverd.

Dat bevestigden initiators Ken Anderson en Peter Windsor tegenover de New York Times. De twee ingeschreven teams hebben echter geen enkele garantie dat ze ook toegelaten worden. Er zijn dertien beschikbare plekken en de tien huidige renstallen hebben de optie om hun plek te behouden. Het is onduidelijk hoeveel van die teams dat gaan doen. De invoering van een budgetlimiet heeft veel kwaad bloed gezet en onder andere Ferrari, Renault en Toyota dreigden al met een vertrek.

    En het budgetlimiet is nog niet eens zeker? Laat die race-series zoals ze zijn. Alles vertrekt uit GP2-F3 om naar de F1 te komen. Maar de F1 word dan een mix van F1-GP2-F3 teams.. Dan is er toch geen verschil meer! Schijt FIA. Als Alonso verkast naar een andere serie laat ik de F1 zakken.

      Als een gp2 team of een f3 team in de formule 1 zit is het toch geen gp2/f3 team meer?

      Je moet niet zo zeuren. Wat gaf Britisch American Tabacco het recht om de F1 dan in te stappen? Of de man achter Midland, wat had die rijke rus dan gepresteerd? Of Spyker, RedBull, Mallya, Super Aguri?

      Zou je Paul Stoddart terug willen? Of Eddie Jordan? Ook geen mensen met een fabriek achter zich. Maar wel via een team uit de lagere klasses.

    Ik denk dat USF1 met Ken Anderson en Peter Windsor het beste kans maken om toegelaten te worden. De heren hebben allebei de know-how om een goed team op te zetten en ze zijn er al geruime tijd mee bezig, voordat het hele \&quot;budgetcap-gate\&quot; is begonnen waren hun plannen al zeer serieus om een kosteffectieve team op te zetten. Nu de budgetcap er wel degelijk gaat komen wordt het alleen maar makkelijker voor ze. Ook het nieuws dat de auto-ontwerp al in volle gang is en dat ze hopelijk eind dit jaar/begin volgend jaar een shakedown willen houden met de auto, stemt mij goed. Deze team neem ik ECHT serieus en gun ze ook een plekje in de F1 naast Prodrive/Aston Martin !!

    Maar ja, eerst de \&quot;FOTA/FIA-gate\&quot; maar afwachten.
