Buemi verontschuldigt zich voor botsing met Piquet

Scuderia Toro Rosso-coureur Sebastien Buemi heeft het boetekleed aangetrokken. De Zwitser veroorzaakte in Monaco een botsing met Renault-rijder Nelson Piquet en dat betekende het einde van de race voor beiden. Buemi: Ik ben naar Nelson toe gegaan en heb me verontschuldigd.

Hij vervolgt: Doordat Sebastian Vettel iedereen ophield zat alles nog dicht bij elkaar en ik dacht dat dit mijn enige kans zou zijn om Piquet voorbij te komen. Ik zat goed in zijn slipstream en precies toen ik de inhaalactie wilde inzetten begon hij te remmen. Toen was er geen weg meer terug en knalde ik in de achterkant van zijn auto. Het spijt me en dat heb ik hem ook gezegd.

Scuderia Toro Rosso-teambaas Franz Tost verwijt Buemi niets. Als je in Monaco geen geduld hebt, dan eindig je in de vangrails. Maar Buemi deed het geweldig in de kwalificatie en dit is weer een goede leerervaring voor hem.
