Fry: "Hoop dat de grote teams weer in de top mee gaan draaien"

Brawn GP-directeur Nick Fry hoopt dat de topteams van vorig jaar zich binnen niet al te lange tijd weer in de voorste gelederen zullen melden. Ferrari, McLaren en BMW Sauber hebben allen tegenvallende seizoensstarts achter de rug, maar vooral Ferrari lijkt zich de laatste tijd te herpakken. Fry denkt dat als die teams weer mee gaan doen om de racewinst, dat het Brawn GP alleen maar helpt in een poging om de titel te pakken.

Het was een opluchting dat Red Bull Racing niet zoveel punten scoorde als in voorgaande races, begint Fry. Wij staan nu in de positie dat we meer dan het dubbele aantal punten dan onze dichtstbijzijnde tegenstrever hebben en dat is toch een mooie positie. Wat we nu hopen is dat meerdere teams de inhaalslag maken en niet alleen punten van ons, maar ook van de concurrentie af gaan snoepen.

Fry nam ook even de tijd om partner Mercedes-Benz in het zonnetje te zetten. Mercedes-Benz verdient veel waardering. De motor in de auto van Jenson Button was de eerste Formule 1-krachtbron ooit die drie overwinningen op een rij boekte. Om met een motor te kunnen rijden die zo goed is qua prestaties, duurzaamheid en betrouwbaarheid is echt een eerbetoon voor de mensen van Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart en Brixworth waard.
