Jos Verstappen is eerder vandaag begonnen met de voorbereiding op de 24 uur van Le Mans. Op het circuit van Monza kroop hij voor het eerst achter het stuur van de Lola-Aston Martin. Halverwege de dag had hij de snelste rondetijd gerealiseerd, al zijn alleen twee Lola-Aston Martins en een Spyker C8 Laviolette actief in Monza.

Verstappen is vooralsnog wel sneller dan de reguliere rijders van Lola-Aston Martin. Op zijn site zegt de Nederlander: Het gaat als een speer, echt heel erg goed. Ik stapte in en was direct snel. Het is een heel makkelijke auto om te rijden en erg comfortabel. In het begin hebben we mijn stoeltje nog aangepast want mijn been schuurde er tegenaan maar ik heb verder vijftien probleemloze rondes kunnen rijden.

Ook wat het zicht betreft gaat het prima, geen probleem. Het is echt een waanzinnige auto! De remmen zijn geweldig. Er is een lichte neiging naar onderstuur en dat is juist prettig op Le Mans. Na drie rondjes kon ik al op de limiet rijden met de Aston Martin. Ik ben heel erg tevreden.
