Verkennende gesprekken over Canadese Grand Prix gaande

De Grand Prix van Canada keert mogelijk snel terug op de Formule 1-kalender. De Canadese krant La Presse bericht dat Bernie Ecclestone een zakenman en een financier uit Montreal heeft uitgenodigd om in Londen de rentree van de Canadese Formule 1-race in 2010 te bespreken.

Volgens La Presse is de belofte van de overheid om 10 miljoen Canadese dollars bij te dragen nog steeds geldig en mocht de overige 25 miljoen Canadese dollars niet haalbaar zijn voor de huidige promotor, dan zou Bernie Ecclestone de rol van promotor op zich willen nemen. Ook een verlaging van het jaarlijkse bedrag dat de FOM-baas voor het organiseren van een Grand Prix vraagt behoort tot de mogelijkheden. Echter, door alle onduidelijkheid over de reglementen en welke teams zich al dan niet inschrijven weten promotors niet waar ze zich aan verbinden en zullen daarom voorlopig nog even afwachten.
