De Grand Prix van Japan vindt om en om op de circuits van Suzuka en Fuji plaats. Althans, dat was de bedoeling. De Japanse krant Asahi Shimbun meldt echter dat de Fuji Speedway volgend jaar niet terugkeert op de Formule 1-kalender na een jaar afwezigheid.

De Fuji Speedway zou vanwege financiële redenen de Grand Prix niet meer willen organiseren. Een Toyota-woordvoerder vertelde aan Reuters: Fuji heeft ons laten weten dat ze diverse elementen in beschouwing nemen bij de overweging of het volgend jaar de Formule 1-race nog zal huisvesten.
