BMW Sauber weigert huidige seizoen op te geven

BMW Sauber-coureur Robert Kubica scoorde in Turkije zijn eerste punten van het seizoen. Hij werd zevende en voegde zodoende twee punten aan het totaal van de Duitse renstal. BMW Sauber staat op dit moment op acht punten. Desondanks blijft teambaas Mario Theissen bij zijn standpunt dat het afschrijven van het huidige seizoen geen optie is.

Ik krijg steeds vaker de vraag of het niet verstandiger is om het werk aan de F1.09 te laten lopen en alles op 2010 te richten, begint de Duitser. Maar dat is geen optie wat ons betreft. Wij geven 2009 niet op, integendeel zelfs. We hebben ons ontwikkelingstempo omhoog geschroefd en introduceren bij elke tweede of derde Grand Prix vanaf nu verbeteringen. Daarbij hoort ook een verdere uitwerking van de dubbele diffuser. Aan het einde van het seizoen willen wij terugkijken met een goed gevoel omdat we na een matige start toch de weg terug naar de top hebben gevonden.
