Hamilton met speciale helm in actie op Silverstone

McLaren-coureur Lewis Hamilton verschijnt dit weekend aan de start van de Britse Grand Prix met een speciale helm. Het ontwerp verschilt niet heel veel van zijn gewone gele helm. Een Britse vlag bovenop de helm is de enige wijziging. Hamilton wil zijn steun voor zijn thuisland en de Britse fans demonstreren.

Het is de eerste keer sinds de McLaren-coureur in de Formule 1 zit dat hij zijn helmontwerp aanpast. Hamilton: Ik ben zeer trots om als Britse coureur in een Brits team voor het Britse publiek in actie te komen. Ik wilde een ontwerp waaruit niet alleen blijkt dat ik een Brits sportman ben, maar ook dat ik dankbaar ben voor de vele steun die de afgelopen jaren op Silverstone ontving.

Vorig jaar stond ik op de grid en keek ik mijn ogen uit naar al die mensen op de tribunes met Britse vlaggen en spandoeken. Dat was een zeer speciaal moment. En in mijn laatste ronde ging iedereen uit zijn dak. Racen op Silverstone is speciaal, de Britse fans zijn speciaal en ik kijk uit naar onze ontmoeting van dit jaar.
