Force India beslist pas na het weekend over Formule 1-toekomst

Het team van Force India is een van de twee huidige Formule 1-renstallen die zich onvoorwaardelijk inschreven voor het wereldkampioenschap 2010. Nu de acht FOTA-renstallen hebben besloten om een eigen raceserie op te zetten begint ook het Indiase team te twijfelen. Het wacht de ontwikkelingen van dit weekend af voordat het zich beraadt over de toekomst.

Teameigenaar Vijah Mallya stelde in een verklaring: Wij zijn altijd open en transparant naar de FOTA toe geweest. De FOTA waardeerde onze transparantie, maar besloot toch om ons net als Williams te schorsen. We hoopten op een overeenkomst tussen FOTA en de FIA, maar rond middernacht informeerde de FOTA me over de beslissing om een alternatieve serie op te zetten, iets wat er al aan zat te komen.

Dit vinden wij betreurenswaardig en jammer, aangezien het wereldkampioenschap Formule 1 de afgelopen decennia is opgebouwd tot een waardevol merk. Voorlopig is Force India een bevestigde deelnemer voor het seizoen van 2010, maar we wachten de ontwikkelingen van dit weekend af. Totdat een duidelijke richting bekend is geven we verder geen commentaar meer.
