Surfers Paradise toont interesse in organisatie FOTA-race

Mochten de teams verenigd in FOTA definitief een eigen serie oprichten, dan wil Surfers Paradise wel als locatie voor een race dienen. Dat stelt Gold Coast-burgemeester Ron Clarke. Surfers Paradise en Adelaide zijn genoemd als opties voor een Australische ronde in het FOTA-kampioenschap.

Gold Coast heeft daar wel oren naar, maar wel met de hulp van de provincie Queensland. Clarke: Een dergelijk bod kunnen we niet op eigen kracht indienen, maar als Queensland Events ons steunt zijn wij zeer zeker geïnteresseerd. De kans bestaat dat de nieuwe serie lagere bedragen verlangt dan de huidige organisatie van de Formule 1.
