US F1 denkt aan Paul Ricard voor Europese basis

US F1 heeft de aandacht voor de Europese basis verschoven van Spanje naar Frankrijk. De Amerikaanse renstal, die de autos zelf gaat ontwerpen en produceren in North Carolina, wilde in eerste instantie in Europa gebruik maken van de faciliteiten van Epsilon Euskadi.

Het Spaanse World Series by Renault en Le Mans-team diende echter zelf een aanmelding voor de Formule 1 in en staat op de reservelijst voor het geval dat de FOTA-teams definitief opstappen. En dus moest US F1 op zoek naar een andere Europese basis.

Volgens de Franse krant Nice Matin is het nieuwe team daarbij uitgekomen bij Paul Ricard. Het artikel meldt dat de onderhandelingen in een vergevorderd stadium verkeren. Paul Ricard-directeur Gerard Neveu: Het US F1-project is zeer gestructureerd en ze laten niks aan het toeval over. Ze zijn absoluut serieus.
