Alguersuari vervangt Hartley als Red Bull-reservecoureur

Jaime Alguersuari neemt vanaf de Duitse Grand Prix de taken van reservecoureur voor de Red Bull-teams over van Brendon Hartley (foto). De 19-jarige Spanjaard is beschikbaar als invaller voor zowel Red Bull Racing als Scuderia Toro Rosso. De verschuiving maakt onderdeel uit van de tactiek die Red Bull hanteert voor het opleidingsprogramma.

In een verklaring van Red Bull staat: Met het verbod op testen tijdens het seizoen beschouwt Red Bull de benoeming van de derde rijder als onderdeel van het Young Driver-programma. Op die manier kan een jonge coureur alle activiteiten van het team tijdens een Grand Prix-weekend volgen, de technische briefings bijwonen en alle communicatie tussen de racecoureurs en het team volgen. Hartley zal profijt hebben van de opgedane kennis wanneer hij zijn seizoen vervolgt in de Formule 3 Euroseries.
