Honda heeft niet de intentie voor comeback in Formule 1

De Japanse autofabrikant Honda maakt sinds dit jaar geen deel meer uit van het Formule 1-gilde. De economische crisis noodzaakte het bedrijf om de dure Formule 1-tak van de hand te doen. Ross Brawn nam de renstal over en doopte het om tot Brawn GP.

Takuanobu Ito, de nieuwe baas van Honda, onthulde tegenover Reuters dat een terugkeer van zijn merk in de Formule 1 onwaarschijnlijk is. Het is jammer dat we de Formule 1 moesten verlaten. Echter, de Formule 1 is verworden tot een evenement met veel beperkingen en is niet meer een platform voor autofabrikanten om te experimenteren. Er is bijna geen ruimte om nieuwe dingen te ontdekken. Met de huidige staat van de Formule 1 hebben wij niet de intentie om terug te keren, zelfs niet wanneer de economie aantrekt.
