Fernando Alonso wil met Banco Santander wielerteam beginnen

Renault-coureur Fernando Alonso wil zijn eigen wielerteam opzetten. De equipe moet volgend jaar al zijn opwachting maken in het peloton. Banco Santander zal zich als loyale partner van Alonso verbinden aan de ploeg. Alonso hoopt Alberto Contador te strikken als grote ster van het team.

Dat melden zowel de Italiaanse krant Gazzetta dello Sport als de Spaanse krant Marca. Alonso staat bekend als een groot fan van het wielrennen. Zo trainde hij begin dit jaar mee met de Cervelo-ploeg van landgenoot Carlos Sastre en was hij eerder deze maand aanwezig bij de proloog van de Tour in Monaco.
