Button: "Rustig blijven en updates introduceren is het devies"

Brawn GP-coureur Jenson Button verloor in de afgelopen twee races een aanzienlijk deel van zijn voorsprong in het kampioenschap aan de Red Bull Racing-coureurs. Desondanks leidt de Engelsman nog met meer dan twintig punten verschil. Er is dus geen enkele reden voor paniek en Button blijft ook rustig.

Het is belangrijk om de rust te bewaren, begint Button. Je kan schreeuwen tegen je team en verbetering eisen, maar ze weten zelf het best wat ze moeten doen. Kalm blijven en updates introduceren om de auto sneller te maken is het devies. Alles moet perfect zijn om competitief te acteren. In Hongarije zijn we weer sterker. Ik ben blij dat deze twee races achter de rug zijn, al had ik er liever meer punten aan overgehouden.

Het is zorgwekkend, maar niet op de manier dat we denken dat we de titel gaan verliezen. Het is meer dat we zelf het verschil willen maken. We hebben wat nieuwe onderdelen voor de Hungaroring en daar kijk ik naar uit. We weten dat de auto daar beter uit de verf komt, maar hoeveel beter is nog de vraag. Hopelijk zijn we in Hongarije weer snel, want als dat niet het geval is hebben we pas echt een probleem.

Krijg toch het idee dat Brawn aan het verliezen is op het terrein van taktiek. Iets waar hij in het verleden mee heeft bewezen ijzersterk te zijn.
