Robert Doornbos: "Ik smacht naar een podiumplek"

Edmonton is de locatie waar komend weekend de volgende IRL IndyCars-race verreden wordt. Robert Doornbos kent het circuit nog uit zijn tijd in de Champ Car. De Nederlander is vastberaden om eindelijk weer eens een mooi resultaat neer te zetten.

Doornbos: We zijn als team een paar keer in de buurt van een podiumplek gekomen, maar steeds mocht het niet lukken. Om dit weekend wel te slagen hebben we een super set-up nodig van de engineers, monteurs die de auto optimaal voorbereiden en een coureur die smacht naar het podium. Al die ingrediënten zijn aanwezig.

Het zou geweldig zijn om dit jaar een race te winnen met Newman/Haas/Lanigan en ik beloof een groot feest als ons dat lukt. Daarvoor moeten we hard blijven werken en minder fouten maken dan de rest. Ik heb wat winnende energie opgepikt in Mont Tremblant en ik ben klaar voor de race in Edmonton.
