Heidfeld: "Exit BMW uit de Formule 1 komt totaal onverwacht"

BMW Sauber-coureur Nick Heidfeld moet voor volgend jaar op zoek naar een andere werkgever. De Duitse autofabrikant BMW heeft besloten om zich terug te trekken uit de Formule 1. Heidfeld had dat niet zien aankomen.

De beslissing van BMW om te stoppen met de Formule 1 komt voor mij totaal onverwacht, begint de Duitser. Ik vind het vooral erg voor het personeel, het was een voorrecht om met hun te mogen werken. Ik wil ze bedanken voor hun steun en alles dat we samen bereikt hebben.

Mijn ambitie is nog steeds om de top in de Formule 1 te halen. Ik ga mijn best doen om de laatste races van deze renstal zo goed mogelijk te laten verlopen. Wat mij persoonlijk betreft, de onderhandelingen met andere teams gaan door in de wetenschap dat BMW stopt.
