Silverstone kan tot december wachten voor race in 2010

Silverstone is bereid te wachten op het definitieve oordeel over de Britse Grand Prix voor 2010. Het circuit zou de race eigenlijk kwijtraken aan Donington Park, maar die baan is mogelijk niet op tijd klaar. Silverstone geldt als alternatief en kan tot de laatste World Motor Sport Council-bijeenkomst van dit jaar wachten.

Die heeft plaats in december, vaak om een voorlopige kalender definitief te maken. Silverstone-directeur Richard Phillips: Ze kunnen ons niet voor eeuwig in de wacht houden, maar maximaal tot de World Motor Sport Council-vergadering in december. Dat is de uiterste datum. Normaal gesproken publiceren ze in juni al een voorlopige kalender, maar dit keer niet. Achter de schermen is het een politiek gedoe van jewelste.
