Nelson Piquet senior wordt gezien als kandidaat om het BMW Sauber-team van een doorstart te voorzien. De Braziliaanse krant O Globo bericht dat de drievoudig wereldkampioen samen met Super Nova-baas David Sears de boedel van de Duitse renstal over wil nemen.

Piquet zou vanzelfsprekend een plek in het team inruimen voor zijn zoon Nelson Piquet, die op de schopstoel zit bij Renault. Junior vertelde over de plannen: Het enige dat ik kan zeggen is dat de naam Piquet F1 mij wel bevalt. Wat vinden jullie?
