FOTA toont zich content met nieuw Concorde Agreement

De teams verenigd in FOTA zijn tevreden over de nieuwe Concorde Agreement. Alle renstallen voor 2010 hebben de documenten inmiddels ondertekend, op BMW Sauber na. Mocht het tot een doorstart voor dat team komen, dan mag de nieuwe eigenaar zich later verbinden aan de Concorde Agreement.

FOTA stelt in een verklaring: We verwelkomen de afronding van een nieuw Concorde Agreement. Getekend door alle Formule 1-teams op BMW Sauber na, de FIA en de FOA stippelt de Concorde Agreement 2009 de commerciële en regelgevende lijnen voor de Formule 1 tot en met 2012 uit, terwijl het ook een garantie biedt over de aanwezigheid van de teams tot het einde van die periode.

Tevens hebben alle teams vrijwillig samen een overeenkomst over kostenbesparingen bereikt. Het doel van de FOTA is om uiteindelijk terug te keren naar het uitgavenpatroon van begin jaren negentig van de vorige eeuw. De rol van de Formule 1 Commissie en diverse werkgroepen wordt weer belangrijk. De aandacht van de FOTA gaat vanaf nu uit naar andere belangrijke speerpunten voor een goede toekomst voor de Formule 1, zijnde racen op de beste circuits, voor een groot aantal toeschouwers en het bereik van de sport uitbreiden.
