IRL: Dixon wint, Doornbos ook met HVM Racing in de marge

Scott Dixon heeft de IndyCars-race op het circuit van Mid-Ohio op zijn naam geschreven. Bij het op een ronde zetten van Milka Duno passeerde de Ganassi-coureur de tot dan toe indrukwekkend leidende Justin Wilson, die na technische problemen verder weg zakte. Dixon stond de eerste plek vervolgens niet meer af. Ryan Briscoe werd tweede, Dario Franchitti eindigde als derde.

Robert Doornbos sloot zijn eerste race na de terugkeer bij HVM Racing af als veertiende. Hij verloor tevens de leiding in de stand voor de Rookie of the Year-titel. Doornbos: Dat was hard werken voor een veertiende positie. De auto voelde beter aan met weinig brandstof aan boord. Aerodynamisch gezien kunnen wij ons volgens mij meten met de leidende teams. In de eerste stint was mijn auto alleen niet goed gebalanceerd. Komend weekend gaan we naar Infineon om te testen, dat is een goed begin om weer op elkaar ingespeeld te raken.
