David Coulthard weigert complottheorieën te geloven

Het was een opvallende startopstelling in België. Pole position voor een Force India, een Toyota op plek twee en daarachter een BMW Sauber. Drie teams die om verschillende redenen een goed resultaat goed konden gebruiken.

Aanleiding genoeg om een complottheorie te bedenken. De internationale autosportbond FIA zou de drie renstallen geholpen hebben door ze met meer toeren te laten rijden, betere banden te geven en een lager minimumgewicht voor hun autos toe te staan.

Oud-coureur David Coulthard gelooft er niets van. In de Daily Telegraph stelt de Schot: Zon scenario zou de medewerking van Bernie Ecclestone, teampersoneel en de FIA vereisen. Het zou onmogelijk zijn om dat geheim te houden.

Ook een opzettelijke crash van Nelson Piquet in Singapore 2008 gaat er bij Coulthard niet in. Dan had het al veel eerder uitgelekt. Ik geloof het gewoon niet. Hoe dan ook is het jammer dat dit soort speculatie een geweldig weekend overstemt.
