Fisichella hoopt op positieve uitwerking van druk voor thuisrace

Giancarlo Fisichella komt vrijdag voor het eerst in actie voor Ferrari. Aan het einde van zijn loopbaan gaat zijn grootste wens in vervulling. En dat op Monza, zijn thuisrace en ook die van het team. De verwachtingen lopen hoog op, de tifosi dromen van een Italiaanse winnaar in een Ferrari op Monza. Fisichella hoopt vleugels te krijgen van zijn thuispubliek.

Ik begon mijn carrière in 1996 bij Minardi en van daaruit ging ik verder. En op een moment dat ik al lang niet meer aan Ferrari dacht bevind ik me nu in een situatie dat ik deel uitmaak van dat team. Ik bedank president Luca di Montezemolo, teambaas Stefano Domenicali en alle andere teamleden. Ik ga mijn uiterste best doen om het vertrouwen terug te betalen. Ik mag op Monza racen voor Ferrari.

Het wordt een geweldig weekend met veel druk. Het is wel druk die me een boost zal geven. Al mijn kennissen en familie komen kijken om me te steunen en ik kan niet wachten op vrijdagochtend. Ik ken Monza goed, ik rij hier al sinds 1992. Op de rechte stukken krijg je de tijd om na te denken over je rempunten. Dat zal me wel helpen, aldus Fisichella tegenover Sky Sport 24.
