Mallya: "Geen Indiase coureur is goed genoeg voor Formule 1"

Vijah Mallya is helemaal klaar met de discussie over de line-up van zijn team Force India. De wens voor een Indiase coureur is begrijpelijk, alleen beschikken de rijders uit zijn thuisland niet over het vereiste niveau. Mallya tegenover persbureau PTI: Mijn taak is om het team succesvol te maken en met welke coureurs ik dat doe is volledig mijn zaak.

Ik wil dat iemand me overtuigd en al het gedoe rond een Indiase coureur rechtvaardigt, gaat hij verder. Het feit blijft dat op dit moment geen enkele Indiase coureur goed genoeg is voor de Formule 1. Force India vertegenwoordigt de hoop van een miljard mensen en ook ik zou graag een Indiase coureur zien, maar dan moet hij wel goed genoeg zijn. Er bestaat geen regel, hoewel sommige mensen anders doen denken, die voorschrijft dat je coureurs van een bepaalde nationaliteit dient te contracteren. Wij willen alleen de beste rijders die onze prestaties maximaliseren.
