Silverstone ziet niets in eenmalig vervangen van Donington Park

Het circuit van Silverstone staat niet te springen om in 2010 nog eenmaal als gastheer voor de Britse Grand Prix te dienen. Vervangen is prima, maar dan wel met een langdurig contract. Donington Park is vanaf volgend jaar de beoogde nieuwe locatie voor die race, maar dat circuit heeft moeite met de financiën en de benodigde renovatie.

Mochten Donington Park niet aan de eisen voldoen, dan wil Silverstone-eigenaar British Racing Drivers Club dat Bernie Ecclestone de onderhandelingen opnieuw opent. BRDC-voorzitter Damon Hill in The Guardian: Als het Donington niet lukt, dan moet je jezelf afvragen of je eerste beslissing wel de juiste was. In die omstandigheden gaan we graag om de tafel met de FOM om de onzekerheid over de Britse Grand Prix voor goed uit de wereld te helpen.
