Hamilton: "Probleem met KERS kostte me de tweede plaats"

Lewis Hamilton sloot de Grand Prix van Japan af op de positie waarop hij ook begonnen was, namelijk de derde. De McLaren-coureur had bij de start nog wel Jarno Trulli verschalkt, maar na de tweede serie pitstops reed de uittredend wereldkampioen weer achter de Toyota.

Hamilton legt uit hoe dat tot stand kwam: Vlak voor of vlak na mijn laatste stop verloor ik de mogelijkheid om KERS in te zetten. Dat scheelt toch al gauw een paar tienden en bovendien verandert dan ook de rembalans en nog meer dingen, dat maakte het moeilijk.

Ik had drie seconden nodig om voor hem te blijven en ik had volgens mij 3,1 seconden. In die ronden zonder KERS verloor ik een ongeveer halve seconde per rondje. Het scheelde niet veel, maar hij kwam voor me terug op de baan en toen kon ik hem niet meer bijhouden.
