US F1 in 2010 waarschijnlijk zonder Amerikaanse coureur

Van het plan van nieuwkomer US F1 om in 2010 met twee jonge Amerikaanse coureurs aan de start te verschijnen is weinig meer over. Het is nog maar de vraag of de nieuwe renstal één Amerikaanse rijder aanstelt. Sportief directeur Peter Windsor wijt dat aan het lang uitblijven van de nieuwe Concorde Agreement.

Tegenover Autosport zei hij: Door alle tijd die we daarmee verloren hebben is een line-up met twee jonge Amerikaanse coureurs een moeilijk verhaal. Ik hoop nog steeds dat we ten minste één Amerikaanse rijder kunnen aantrekken, maar zelfs dat zal al lastig worden aangezien er niet veel Amerikanen met een superlicentie rondlopen.

Als we niet aan het plan voor een Amerikaan in ons team in 2010 kunnen voldoen, dan stellen we zeker een programma voor jonge Amerikanen op. We leggen dan gedisciplineerd geld opzij om ze te helpen bij wat ze ook willen doen. De GP2 is bijvoorbeeld erg duur, maar ik hoop dat we genoeg geld vergaren om steun te verlenen, mocht dat nodig zijn.
