Williams zit achter BMW Sauber-sponsor Petronas aan

Het team van Williams hoopt BMW Sauber-sponsor Petronas te strikken voor volgend seizoen. Dat zou zelfs de reden zijn dat Frank Williams tegen een startveld van veertien teams, inclusief Qadbak/Sauber, is, zo meldt Auto Motor und Sport.

Williams verklaarde een grid van veertien teams en 28 autos teveel te vinden, maar volgens het artikel is hij uit op het sponsorgeld van Petronas. De Maleisische oliemaatschappij wil door in de Formule 1 en het liefst met Sauber, maar zonder startbewijs moet de geldschieter verder kijken.

Daarbij zou Williams de voorkeur genieten boven het vernieuwde Team Lotus, dat op de steun van de Maleisische overheid kan rekenen. Petronas beschouwt het gevestigde Williams als meer betrouwbaar en meer waar voor het geld.
