Kamui Kobayashi voelt zich klaar voor Formule 1-debuut

Kamui Kobayashi rijdt komende zondag zijn allereerste Grand Prix. De Japanner vervangt Timo Glock, die uitgeschakeld is met een gebroken ruggenwervel, bij Toyota. Op Suzuka nam Kobayashi op de vrijdag ook al de honneurs voor de toen zieke Glock waar.

De Japanner voelt zich klaar voor zijn racedebuut in de Formule 1. Het is een geweldige kans voor me om mijn Grand Prix-debuut te maken, maar het is ook jammer voor Timo. Ik weet hoe graag hij weer wilde racen. Gelukkig ben ik op Suzuka ook al een dag in actie gekomen, dat was nuttig ondanks dat de baan nat was. Ik heb nog nooit op Interlagos gereden, maar ik ken de lay-out van computergames en de televisie, dus ik verwacht niet lang nodig te hebben om het circuit te leren.

Het wordt een zwaar weekend, maar ik voel me klaar voor de uitdaging en voel me honderd procent gesteund door het team. Een paar dagen geleden hield ik helemaal geen rekening met racen dit weekend, dus het is onmogelijk om doelen in te stellen. Ik wil mezelf trots maken en de race zonder problemen completeren, al het andere zou een bonus zijn.
