Mercedes bespreekt in Abu Dhabi Formule 1-toekomstplannen

Daimler en Mercedes-baas Dieter Zetsche is komend weekend in Abu Dhabi aanwezig bij de eerste Grand Prix op Yas Marina Circuit. Auto Motor und Sport en Motorsport Aktuell berichten dat hij dat doet vanwege geplande gesprekken over de toekomstplannen van Mercedes als fabrieksteam en motorleverancier in de Formule 1.

De Duitse autofabrikant zou overwegen om de band met McLaren langzaam maar zeker te verbreken en Brawn GP als nieuwe fabrieksteam te adopteren. Tot eind 2011 heeft McLaren echter een exclusiviteitcontract. Een optie voor Mercedes is om een eventueel aandeel in Brawn GP onder te brengen bij Daimler-aandeelhouder AA BAR, een investeringsmaatschappij uit Abu Dhabi.
