Williams kiest voor Cosworth als nieuwe motorleverancier

De autos van het team van Williams worden volgend jaar aangedreven door Cosworth-motoren. Dat onthulde teambaas Frank Williams in Gulf News. De Britse renstal kwam eerder al contractontbinding met huidige leverancier Toyota overeen en geeft nu de voorkeur aan Cosworth boven Renault. Het team heeft de overeenkomst middels een officieel persbericht bevestigd.

Williams: We beeindigen na de komende race onze samenwerking met Toyota en gaan verder met de Britse motorleverancier Cosworth waarmee we in het verleden grote successen hebben geboekt. Cosworth zit dicht bij onze fabriek en dat is gemakkelijk. Daarnaast koesteren we onze onafhankelijkheid. Niet dat Toyota ons ooit commandeerde, maar we staan niet meer onder invloed van een andere partij. We slaan een onafhankelijke weg in.
