Vergevorderde plannen voor Grand Prix-circuit in Praag

Toni Charouz, teambaas van renstallen in de Le Mans Series, A1 Grand Prix en de DTM, wil de Formule 1 naar zijn thuisland Tsjechië brengen. De Tsjech is ook in gesprek met de DTM over een race in de buurt van Praag, tevens de beoogde locatie voor een Grand Prix.

Hermann Tilke schetste al een ontwerp voor een circuit ter waarde van 166 miljoen dollar en volgens Charouz is alles voor negentig procent rond. In Autoweek verklaarde hij: Formule 1 is de ambitie. Als we met de DTM een goede show opvoeren, dan behoort een Grand Prix misschien tot de mogelijkheden. Maar er staat nog niets op papier. Vanaf 2012 moet het circuit van Praag gebruiksklaar zijn voor races.
