Bernie Ecclestone geeft Silverstone tot 11 december de tijd

Bernie Ecclestone heeft een nieuwe deadline opgesteld voor Silverstone. Een nieuwe overeenkomst over de Grand Prix van Groot-Brittannië moet voor de volgende World Motor Sport Council-bijeenkomst van 11 december afgerond zijn, anders verdwijnt de race van de kalender voor 2010.

Daarmee dreigt Ecclestone in The Times. De World Motor Sport Council komt op 11 december bij elkaar en dan halen we de Britse Grand Prix van het schema. We kunnen niet anders als we geen contract hebben. De kalender mag geen races zonder contract bevatten. Silverstone is dicht bij en dat weten ze. Het gaat ook niet om de voorwaarden, het ligt aan de investeerders en of ze bereid zijn te betalen. Natuurlijk willen we een Britse Grand Prix. Ik heb veel tijd gestoken in een mogelijke oplossing, maar we gaan geen uitzonderingen maken voor Silverstone. Waarom zouden we?
