FIA neigt naar geldboete voor contractbreuk plegend Toyota

De internationale autosportbond FIA overweegt Toyota een boete van 20 miljoen Zwitserse francs op te leggen voor elk van de seizoenen 2010, 2011 en 2012 dat de Japanse autofabrikant niet meedoet. Toyota tekende eerder dit jaar de nieuwe Concorde Agreement en verbond zich zodoende tot en met 2012, maar keert de Formule 1 na dit jaar al de rug toe.

Dat betekent contractbreuk en dat kan de Japanners op een fikse boete komen te staan. 20 miljoen Zwitserse francs is ongeveer 12 miljoen euro, wat over drie jaar gezien dus op kan lopen tot meer dan 36 miljoen euro. Een definitief besluit door de FIA laat volgens Auto Motor und Sport nog minstens een week op zich wachten en tot die tijd kan beoogde vervanger Qadbak/Sauber geen coureurs of sponsors aan zich binden.
