Eric Boullier nieuwe teambaas van Renault

Fransman Eric Boullier is vandaag bevestigd als nieuwe teambaas van het Renault-team. Boullier volgt hiermee Bob Bell op, die tijdelijk de honeurs waarnam nadat Flavio Briatore was opgestapt na de crash-gate affaire.

Boullier is geen onbekende in de autosport. Hij leidde onder andere het GP2-team van DAMS en het Franse A1GP-team. De 36-jarige Fransman is ook CEO van Gravity Sports Management, die banden hebben met de nieuwe eigenaren van Renault.

Hierdoor werd voor Kerst 2009 flink gespeculeerd over de tweede coureur bij het Franse team. Deze zou uit de stal van Gravity Sports komen, zoals Ho-Pin Tung of Jerome d'Ambrosio. De nieuwe teambaas zegt hierover: "Dit kan, maar het is niet zeker. Als het een coureur wordt van Gravity Sports dan zal hij zich zeker extra moeten bewijzen dat hij dit zitje meer dan waard is."
