Koreaanse bandenfabrikanten azen op rol van bandenleverancier

Twee Koreaanse bandenfabrikanten hebben interesse om vanaf 2011 de rol van officiële bandenleverancier van de Formule 1 te worden. Dat meldt Auto Motor und Sport. Namen noemen ze niet, maar Kumho, Hankook en Nexen zijn de grote bandenfabrikanten uit Zuid-Korea.

Er bestaat echter ook nog een kleine kans dat Bridgestone blijft. Formule 1-bazen willen de regels veranderen om Bridgestone over te halen om door te gaan, bijvoorbeeld door minder banden beschikbaar te stellen voor de teams waardoor de jaarlijkse kosten voor de levering van banden naar beneden gaan. Tijdens een bijeenkomst op 22 januari moet meer duidelijk worden over de toekomstige bandenleverancier voor de Formule 1.
