Status Grand Prix toont interesse in Formule 1-plek

Staus Grand Prix heeft zich aangediend als potentieel Formule 1-team. De Ierse renstal runde afgelopen A1 Grand Prix-seizoen de auto van kampioen Team Ierland en heeft zich nu ingeschreven voor de nieuwe GP3 Series. De ambities van Status Grand Prix reiken verder, de Formule 1 lonkt.

Teambaas Simon Cayzer verklaarde op de Autosport International Show: Teddy Yip junior is een van onze aandeelhouders, hij is de zoon van Teddy Yip die in de jaren zeventig en tachtig van de vorige eeuw een Formule 1-team had met Theodore Racing. Ik zeg dus geen nee tegen de Formule 1. Ons team is ambitieus, we willen snel uitbreiden. Ik zal niet zeggen dat we niet naar Formule 1 kijken.

Technisch directeur Gary Anderson voegde toe: We hebben ambities, en waarom niet? In de komende jaren wordt de Formule 1 opgeruimd. Ik geloof niet dat het goedkoper wordt, maar ze gaan de verspilling aanpakken. De kans dat we een team opbouwen via de GP3 bestaat en waarom niet?
