Flavio Briatore sluit terugkeer als teambaas uit

Flavio Briatore keert niet als teambaas terug in de Formule 1. Die optie sloot de Italiaan zelf uit in gesprek met de Britse krant The Mirror. Briatore werd door de internationale autosportbond FIA levenslang verbannen uit de autosport vanwege een vermeend aandeel in crashgate, maar een Franse rechter verklaarde die uitspraak tot ongeldig.

De FIA tekende beroep aan, wat betekent dat de schorsing voorlopig van kracht blijft. Maar zelfs als de bond dat verliest dan is een rentree in de Formule 1 wat Briatore betreft geen mogelijkheid. De overwinning in de Franse rechtbank voelde geweldig. Ik ben nog steeds verbitterd over wat drie, vier maanden geleden gebeurde. Ik zal nooit meer een Formule 1-team leiden, dat staat vast. Ik heb mijn waardigheid terug en dat is belangrijk. Er was geen bewijs voor mijn betrokkenheid in crashgate. Dat is officieel, komt uit een rapport van de FIA en zo simpel is het.
