Martin Whitmarsh verkozen tot nieuwe FOTA-voorzitter

McLaren-teambaas Martin Whitmarsh volgt Luca di Montezemolo op als voorzitter van teamverbond FOTA. Ferrari-teambaas Stefano Domenicali neemt de positie van vice-voorzitter op zich. Christian Horner van Red Bull Racing vult de rol van voorzitter van de sportieve werkgroep in en Mercedes GP-teambaas Ross Brawn blijft aan als voorzitter van de technische werkgroep.

De FOTA stelt in een verklaring: Al onze leden hebben Luca di Montezemolo bedankt voor zijn waardevolle leiderschap en zijn opmerkelijke bijdrage aan de succesvolle start van de FOTA. De dank gaat ook uit naar de andere sleutelfiguren die hun steentje vorig jaar hebben bijgedragen. De FOTA verheugt zich om nu met Martin Whitmarsh als voorzitter te werken aan de ontwikkeling van activiteiten voor de lange termijn van deze sport, in overleg met alle andere stakeholders. Elk lid van onze bond, waarin alle Formule 1-teams verenigd zijn, mag een afgevaardigde kiezen voor het uitvoerend comité en voor de werkgroepen. De afdelingen zullen nauw samenwerken om de doelen en initiatieven van de FOTA te bepalen.
