FOTA kijkt voor 2011 weer naar gezamenlijke wagenpresentatie

Een grote gezamenlijke prestatie van de nieuwe autos van alle teams, het voorstel leek dit jaar al doorgang te vinden, maar de onderhandelingen liepen toch nog stuk. Te weinig teams zouden een nieuwe auto klaar hebben voor de voorgestelde datum. Het idee leeft echter nog altijd bij de teams en teamverbond FOTA, misschien dat het in 2011 wel gebeurt.

FOTA-voorzitter Martin Whitmarsh: We hebben het nog niet besproken voor volgend jaar. In eerste instantie leken voor dit seizoen twee of drie teams de presentatie niet te halen met een nieuwe auto, maar we waren het eens dat die renstallen dan met oude autos of showmodellen met de 2010-livery mee zouden doen. Dat leek een aanvaardbaar compromis.

Maar naarmate de datum dichterbij kwam werd duidelijk dat slechts een paar teams de nieuwe auto zou kunnen presenteren. Het zou een teleurstellend evenement geweest zijn als we maar enkele nieuwe bolides zouden tonen. De reglementen zijn veranderd en voor de nieuwe teams was het sowieso al krap om de presentatie te halen.

Het logische resultaat was dat we er vanaf moesten zien. We vinden het echter nog steeds een goed idee. Het is nu de vraag of we volgend jaar voldoende nieuwe autos beschikbaar hebben om van een gezamenlijke presentatie een interessant spektakel te maken.

Het idee is nog steeds een van de betere van de afgelopen jaren.
Een mooi evenement met (gratis) toegang voor de fans zou het feest compleet maken.
Hebben ze meteen weer een stap gemaakt om de Formule 1 dichter bij de fans te brengen.
