Het team van McLaren slaat in 2015 de handen weer ineen met Honda. Het is een reunie nadat de Britse renstal eind jaren tachtig en begin jaren negentig van de vorige eeuw zeer succesvol was met de motoren van de Japanse autofabrikant. Als voorproefje op die hereniging slingerden engineers van McLaren de Honda V12 in de MP4/6 uit 1991 aan. Maar de V6 turbo van volgend jaar kan waarschijnlijk nooit tippen aan die krachtbron.
