Boullier fungeert bij McLaren 'gewoon' als teambaas

Eric Boullier is door McLaren aangesteld als racing director, maar de Fransman voert gewoon de taken van teambaas uit. Dat is veelzeggend over de status van Martin Whitmarsh, officieel nog in dienst bij McLaren als teambaas. Maar sinds Ron Dennis terug is als directeur bij de Britse renstal is van Whitmarsh niets meer vernomen.

De ouderwetse rolverdeling met een enkele teambaas is sowieso niet meer van deze tijd, vertelde Boullier aan Sky Sports F1. "Op de circuits fungeer ik als teambaas en in de fabriek ligt de nadruk voor mij op performance. De tijden zijn veranderd, als maatschappij gaan we alsmaar vooruit en het is voor een team tegenwoordig niet meer mogelijk om goed te functioneren met een enkele kapitein op het schip. De renstallen worden steeds groter en je moet de verantwoordelijkheden opsplitsen om het beste uit iedereen te halen, is mijn mening."
