Rosberg opgetogen over Mercedes in kwalificatietrim

Nico Rosberg noteerde zaterdag de beste tijd van de testweek in Bahrein. De Duitser dook als enige onder de 1:34. Hij verrichtte wat kwalificatieruns met weinig brandstof in de Mercedes W05 en op zachte banden. En wat hij voelde kon hem wel bekoren.

Rosberg: "Ik voelde me op mijn gemak in de auto, kwam in een lekker ritme en vond een goede balans. Dat ging prima. Ik was in staat om te pushen, daar was ik wel blij mee. Het gevoel is positief, de snelheid zit er wel in, maar verder kan ik er nog geen conclusies aan verbinden."

"Het is te vroeg om te zeggen waar we precies staan. Ik geloof niet dat een van de andere teams al met zo weinig brandstof als wij heeft gereden. We oefenden in kwalificatietrim, wat de verschillen verklaart. Het is onmogelijk te zeggen welk programma de rest volgde."

"De racesimulatie was een ander belangrijke stap voor ons, maar na afloop ging de auto stuk. We zijn er qua betrouwbaarheid dus nog niet. De eerste races draaien vooral om de finish halen, daar zal je al ver mee komen. We zijn nog niet honderd procent betrouwbaar, dus daar ligt de focus op."
