Vettel en Red Bull Racing maken kans op Laureus Award

Sebastian Vettel en Red Bull Racing zijn opnieuw genomineerd voor een Laureus Award, de internationale sportawards. Vettel beleefde vorig jaar een droomseizoen in de Formule 1. De Duitser reed soeverein naar zijn vierde opeenvolgende wereldtitel.

Vettel heeft in de categorie Sportman van het Jaar concurrentie van Mo Farrah (atletiek), Usain Bolt (atletiek), LeBron James (basketbal), Rafael Nadal (tennis) en Christiano Ronaldo (voetbal). Red Bull Racing maakt kans op de prijs voor Sportploeg van het jaar. In die categorie dingen verder Nieuw-Zeeland (rugby), Bayern München (voetbal), Miami Heat (basketbal), Bob en Mike Bryan (tennis) en Brazilië (voetbal) mee naar de award.

Overigens zijn Vettel en Red Bull Racing al vaker genomineerd, maar ze wonnen nog nooit bij de Laureus Awards. De laatste winnaars uit de Formule 1 waren Brawn GP (Sportploeg) en Jenson Button (Doorbraak) in 2010. De Laureus Awards worden op 26 maart uitgereikt in Kuala Lumpur, Maleisië.
