India opent dialoog met Ecclestone over race in 2015

De organisatie van de Grand Prix van India legt zich niet neer bij het feit dat ze volgend jaar niet de Formule 1 zullen verwelkomen. De belastingwetgeving is nog altijd niet versoepeld en de bureaucratie voor het importeren van materiaal is onverminderd groot. Bernie Ecclestone ergert zich daaraan en meldde dat India waarschijnlijk pas in 2016 terugkeert op de kalender.

Sameer Gaur, baas van promotor Yaypee Sports, stuurt aan op een dialoog. "Ik ga een afspraak met meneer Ecclestone maken om deze kwestie te bespreken. Zoals eerder gezegd wil ik dat we in 2015 weer een race organiseren, maar laten we de uitkomst van het gesprek met meneer Ecclestone afwachten", zei hij in de Hindustan Times.

Het probleem is dat de Indiase overheid de Formule 1 als entertainment en niet als sport heeft aangemerkt. Daardoor valt de belasting voor de teams zo hoog uit. De regering weigert vooralsnog een uitzondering te maken voor de Formule 1. Akbar Ebrahim, voorzitter van de Indiase autosportbond, hoopt er het beste van.

Aan Reuters liet hij weten: "Het is jammer, maar zodra de overheid inziet dat de Formule 1 een sport is zullen ze de zorgen van meneer Ecclestone weg nemen. Het goede is dat het Internationaal Olympisch Comité de Formule 1 erkent als sport. Als de Indiase regering dat overneemt, dan veranderen de coureurs in atleten in plaats van entertainers."

Uhhhmmmm, Hahahahaha! Om je te bescheuren! Entertainers in plaats van topatleten! Het is toch niet te geloven, wegwezen daar. Weer zo'n voorbeeld waarom we daar niet moeten rijden en hier in Europa juist wel! Ik zou me zwaar in de zeik genomen voelen als formule 1 coureur...
